The Star Spangled Banner
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free & the home of the brave?

Building 429-"We Won't Be Shaken"

This video was created by a young man (13 years old) from our church.  He told his parents that every time he heard this song he thought of the military and then he created this video!  Very touching!

Madison Rising - The Star Spangled Banner

Some people may not approve of any change to the Star Spangled Banner but I have to say that this group has so much respect and honor for the flag and for those who serve our country!  They are very patriotic and love what the flag stands for...which I appreciate!  Hope you do too!

Courage Awakening

COURAGE: "to have the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. "     (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
Our church recently started a new sermon series called "Courage Awakening: Moving from Fear to Faithfulness" and one of the pastors recently posted, "Courage in following Jesus means trying something new, taking a big risk, and trusting that He’s in control. But courage in following Jesus also means continuing to do the right thing, not giving in to discouragement - and trusting that He’s in control. We can’t let fear of failure prevent us from doing the radical new things any more than we can let fear of futility prevent us from continuing to do the right old things."
What do we fear?  And is fear holding us back from doing things that may be difficult during the process but will be so rewarding in the end?  Fear is a sneaky thing...it can hold us back without us even realizing it.  Personally, we need to move forward with courage as we continue in Partnership Development.  It can often seem like a daunting task.  It requires us to persevere as we face our fears and the unknowns of the journey ahead.  We know that God has gifted us and called us into the ministry of Cadence International...so we need the strength to venture out into this new path for our lives.  Once we raise the funds we need to go onto the mission field, we will be leaving our family, friends, church and a home we love!  It will take courage during the process to ask people to help us and courage to leave what we love to start this new adventure...but we know God is in control and we will need to choose to trust Him through the ups and downs.  We have begun to feel a "courage awakening" within us because we know serving the military is what we were made for.
Is there something God has put on your heart?  A call on your life...a person to reach out to...a ministry to become involved in and fear is holding you back?  We challenge you, as we ourselves have been challenged, to move forward in COURAGE!!!  Will you join us?
Are you ready to be courageous?

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

An Unexpected Journey

Often in life we have unexpected twists and turns in our journey of life.  Ours took a little longer than planned...three years, but we hope we are back on the track we started on three years ago.  Maybe I should clarify and say that we are headed in the same direction on a slightly different path that will has produced more wisdom, compassion, hopefully clarity and growth.

This next week we will be journeying back to Colorado for a refresher of our second week of Candidacy training.  Three years is a long time to remember a lot of the information that we need to start our partnership development.  So we will be back to refresh our memories and to be re-inspired to start raising our support for ministry.  We will also be sending out a newsletter very soon to update everyone!

So until then, enjoy the remainder of your summer!

More to come...

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the end of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:28-31
